Unbound Gravel Drawing Avoided - Rad Dirt Fest Added to Qualifying

Riders competing in the Rad Dirt Festival in Colorado on September 28 will have the chance to win 100 early entries to the popular event in Kansas.

100 qualifying coins will be available, half of which will be distributed randomly to the top finishers in each category and the other half to finishers of both the 110-mile and 70-mile races.

The Rad Dirt Festival is the second qualifying event for Unbound, with the Heathland Gravel on August 11 in Belgium announced as the first qualifying event of the year. There are 50 slots available for this 100-mile race in Europe.

Unbound brings 4,000 riders to Emporia, Kansas, in early June each year, and its headlining 200-mile event (322 km) has become one of the most prized victories on the gravel scene. held on June 1, the race this year featured German rider Rosa Kreiser (MAAP-Rose) and Australian rider Lachlan Morton (EF Education-Easy Post) won the race this year.

The race, which started in 2006 with 34 participants, now has more demand than available slots and an entry lottery has been introduced. Riders participating in the Lifetime Series are guaranteed a spot on the starting line for the race, but now riders who qualify are also given a chance to secure a certain position before the draw takes place.

The newly announced unbound qualifier, the Rad Dirt Fest, became part of the Lifetime Grand Prix Series last year, with professional riders taking on the 110-mile course with over 10,000 feet of elevation gain to and from Trinidad, Colorado. 2023 winners are. Alexei Vermeulen and Lauren De Crescenzo.

The Colorado Ladd Dirt Fest is the fifth round of the 2024 Lifetime Grand Prix Series, in which 60 selected athletes compete in seven events for $300,000 in prize money. After the second unbound race of the 2024 series, Hayley Smith ( Trek-Driftless) is in first place in the women's competition and Keegan Swenson (Santa Cruz) is in first place in the men's.
