Demi Voreling and Jonas Vingegaard were presented at a formal ceremony in Paris on Tuesday night and received the Vélo D'Or Award of the year for Men and women. It was the first time in the 31-year history of the "Golden Bike" honor that the winner was revealed directly at the ceremony, not the front page story of vélo magazine.

Volling won the overall title of the Women's World Tour in 2023 and was highlighted by the victory in the 2nd edition of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. In 2023, Vingegaard won his 2nd Tour de France GC title and finished the season as the 2nd best rider in the uci world rankings after Tadej Pogañar.

Multi-time World champion Pauline Ferrand Prevo and European champion Christophe Laporte will be the best French rider of the past season Ferrand Prevo will receive the Trophée Daniel Morelong for the field of mountain biking, BMX and track. In the new category of Best Classic riders, Lotte Copecky and Mathieu van der Poel, both world champions on the road of the year, were recognized as women and men winners with the Eddie Merck Trophy for their outstanding performance last year.

Vollering was the last athlete to be recognized on a brightly lit stage in the recently renovated palace's event center. She won the highest award over the nominees including Annemiek van Vleuten, last year's winner, Kopecky, Elisa Longo Borghini, Alison Jackson, Juliette Labous, Katarzyna Niewiadoma, Gaia Realini, Marlen Reusser and Lorena Wiebes.

Vingegaard defeated candidate Time Trial World champions Remco Evenepoel, Pogañar, Primoš Roglić, Mads Pedersen, Tom Pidcock, Wout van Aert, Jasper Philipsen, Adam Yates and Van der Poel. Dane could not attend directly and provided his acceptance speech via video.

"It is a great honor for me to receive the Verodor Award. When you see all the names winning it in the past, it's a crazy feeling to know now that I'm the winner of it," he said in the recording. "Eddy Merckx was going to give me this award, and it's very special. He is such a big icon and always wins. I'm always trying to do the same thing, trying to win every race I'm doing. I am very happy with it, thanks for it.

The appointed Verodor went to Miguel Indurán in 1992, but Laurent Jalabert was recognized as France's top rider.

In 2000, Felicia Baranger became the first and only female recipient of Vélo d'Or Français. The Women's Award did not return until 2023, when Annemiek van Vleuten became the first winner of the new Vélo D'Or Femmes.

Tuesday's event coincided with the 2024 Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift route presentation, followed by its own formal program and an all・star cast of professional riders and dignitaries from the Palais des Congres the following day.

Presentation of the 2024 Tour de France route, starting at 10:25 a.m. GMT will be broadcast across the UK and Europe on Eurosport channels 1 and 2 (410 and 411 on Sky) and streamed on Discovery+. In the US and Canada, FloBikes will broadcast the programming live. In addition, the route presentation will air in the UK, Europe and some other regions of GCN+.
